Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome back to the second half of the school year.

Ofsted ICT Inspection – Wednesday 24 & Thursday 25 February 2010

Ms Angela Corbett, Her Majesty’s Inspector (HMI) will spending two days in school completing a subject inspection based around the use of information communication technology (ICT) across the school and its impact on helping pupils to learn. She will be observing teaching and learning in classes from our youngest 3 – 5 year olds up to and including our 2 pupils in our 16 – 19 Unit. She will have a number of meetings with pupils, staff and the senior leadership team to discuss and gain information about our practices in the school. This is not a full inspection but will have many of the same features including a report that will be sent out to everyone once it has been agreed and checked.

We have discussed the inspection with pupils in assemblies and are sure they will be able to show the school at its best on these two days. In general pupils are always very proud of their school and like to show off all the good things that are happening. I am sure the inspector will gain a good understanding of how the pupils enjoy and achieve using ICT across the curriculum.

Indian Buffet Meal – Friday 5 March 2010, The Maharaja Restaurant

Tickets are still available for the Indian Buffet Meal on 5 March, £15.00 per person. All funds raised are going towards educational visits. Please contact the School Office to book.

Update on Building Plans

Astroturf – The Premises Committee of the Governing Body have this week agreed to fund the removal of the grass/mud pitch in the middle of the running track and so we will have a new all weather ‘mock’ grass pitch installed during the Easter holidays that will be available for pupils to play on all year round (without coming home covered in mud!).

Security of School Site – Additional fencing will be installed around the edge of the field to complement the existing wire fencing (that animals regularly break through and leave holes in) again during the Easter holidays. This should ensure that all pupils can be kept safe within the school boundaries.

First Floor Extension – The final set of plans for our major first floor extension and remodelling of ground floor will be approved within the next week. When they are available we will be discussing these with pupils and parents/carers. This will be an exciting new venture that will cause some disruption in the forthcoming year, but it will be well worth it in the end.

Yours sincerely

Jackie Mullan (Mrs.)
